 Thanks to Cathe Walker.
 Loving my nephew. |
After over twelve years in the breed, and waiting and researching for the right time and the right dog, the Fury fell right into my lap. I knew I wanted a red merle bitch.
I knew I wanted a dog with working lines, I wanted her biddable, I wanted her positive, I wanted her energetic. When I wrote to Terry Martin of Slash V aussies with this tall order, she said I
might be asking a little much - but I get what I want.
The Fury is all of these things and more. She is gentle with children, ducks, and kittens but tough on cattle, and possesses unusual intelligence. Incredibly responsive and driven, if she wasn't in my
novice hands, she could be a top agility or working dog. Though she is small, she is powerful, athletic, and lithe. When you ask her to do something, she says, "I'll try. I'll try real hard!"
Visit C-Me Australian Shepherds. Click on "Litters" for more photos of her. Also Slash-V Australian Shepherds to see photos of her extended family.
Fury loves playing frisbee. She taught herself to slingshot outrun after learning how to do it on stock - who am I to argue? |

Fury's a classic working Aussie. Distractions don't work on her and she'll work hard until she figures out how to work efficiently. She thinks for herself (and that includes learning tasks without much practice) but takes directions well. Heads and heels low and stylishly, works quiet unless she's turning cattle and will bark before she tries to bite.
Agility -

She's my first real agility dog and she makes training and exhibiting so fun! So easy to train, easy to motivate, and so fast! :)
Obedience -
Click here for a fun little video on YouTube of her heeling.
I've just been training Fury for the heck of it, but soon realized I had myself a really biddable, easy to motivated, and precise dog. She taught herself the stylish heel flip and to watch me while heeling, and she's just really crisp at her work.
Fury has one leg toward her CD after going into the ring twice - thank you to everyone for the advice and critiques. I don't train with a club currently, so I have a lot to learn! Here's a video of her NQ run on the first day of the trialling weekend: Dixon Trial.
Tracking -
I noticed the Fury likes to track Kathy Warren's sheep when she lets them out of the arena, so I thought she might be pretty easy to train to track, too. Yup, I was right. Tracking training is on the backburner now that it's foxtail season, but hopefully next year!
Conformation -
Unfortunately, Fury has a few too many cosmetic faults for the breed ring. I have taken her into the breed ring for training practice and you'll be seeing us at Nationals in the MVA Evals.

 Puppies are ADORABLE, aren't they?
Taking after her escape artist mother, the 7 foot run is no match for the Fury! |
