Melody's Pardon My Dust
"Dusty"

4/1995 - 1/2003
Blue Merle with copper and white dog
Ch. Sunshines Star Spangled Banner x Ch. Ebbtide's I Saw the Surprise

I lost Dusty slowly and painfully in his eighth year of life. If there is a once-in-a-lifetime dog in terms of just awesome pet quality, it has to be Dusty. He was valiant, patient, stubborn, but loving, and mellow. He grew up with me through my most formative years, went to college with me, and then he contracted Valley Fever. After six long months of battling it, I woke up early one morning and he died as soon as I said hello to him.

Dusty was a beautiful dog, with a beautiful spirit, and he helped me to become one of the top Junior handlers before I retired myself and neutered him. Shortly before he died, I took him on a month-long road trip across the west with me. It was wonderful to explore our country with my best and truest friend. I'm not sure any dog will ever have that same bond that he and I shared. Sometimes I wake up and I still miss him terribly.

Baileys Irish Creme of Showtime, CGC
"Trekki"

10/1992 - 4/1995
Red tri with copper and white dog
Ch. Showtimes Risky Radgett x Very Sirius of Heatherhill

Trekki was the dog that started it all. Stubborn, tough, and beautiful. He taught me what a great, dark red should look like, got me into showing dogs (died just before he finished his championship (needed a 5 point major]) and helped me through the dark Junior High years. He was my best friend, and when he died during his dental cleaning, it devastated me. I hope I never have to feel that empty again. It's amazing how important a dog can be to a kid.
